Teresa Iacono
Associate Professor Teresa Iacono is Director of Research at the Centre for Developmental Disability Health Victoria, and has a seconded position as Senior Researcher to the Communication Resource Centre, Scope. She is a speech pathologist, with over 25 years of clinical, research and teaching experience in the areas of complex communication needs and developmental disabilities. Teresa received a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska, USA. Her publications include over 60 articles in refereed journals, 8 book chapters and one co-edited book. She is the co-developer of a reading assessment for people with complex communication needs (Assessment of Phonological Awareness and Reading) and was editor of the international journal Augmentative and Alternative Communication from 2002-2004. Teresa’s current research activities include mental and physical health issues of people with developmental disabilities, including identification of depression, and Alzheimer’s disease in adults with Down syndrome.
